Sawadaen is based in Kagoshima, the second largest producer of tea in Japan.
Kagoshima is blessed with a natural environment suitable for growing tea, and tea fields cover a wide area from mountainous regions to vast areas, producing fragrant new tea at the beginning of April, the earliest in Japan.
Kagoshima Prefecture has a wider variety of tea varieties than the rest of Japan, and popular varieties such as "Sae Midori," "Asatsuyu," "Yabukita," "Yutaka Midori," "Asanoka," and "Okumidori" are actively produced here.
We mainly deal in Chiran tea, which is highly reputed both within and outside of the prefecture. We aim to produce teas with a deep flavor and sweetness through our unique processing techniques.

Chairman Kenji Sawada founded the company privately as Sawada Tea Shop. |

The tea industry complex cooperative was established at the same time as the new tea market was built in Nansakae 3-chome, and a factory and office were established at Nansakae 3-11.

The company was reorganized from Sawada Chasho to a limited company, Ocha no Sawadaen.

The head office was relocated to a new building in the tea industry complex (Minami-Sakae 3-chome).

The company was reorganized from a limited liability company to a joint-stock company, and Ryozo Sawada was appointed as the representative director.

Masayoshi Sawada was appointed as President and Representative Director of Ocha no Sawadaen Co. after the general meeting of the board of directors on April 24, 2018. Ryozo Sawada was accordingly appointed Chairman and Representative Director.
